Writer Interviews

AMUSE : SWB

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

1991 onwards. I was that little shit on the train that made the carriage smell funny and it wasn't a fart.

How did you choose your tag, any special meaning?

I took it off some shit band from London. I probably sold more albums than them and I've never been recorded.

How did you get in to graffiti?

It was cooler than being in a band. Fuck carrying a guitar.

What is it that you love about graffiti that keeps you writing?

Knowing that in 50 years I won't be a boring grandad.

Tell us about your style and how it has developed over the years.

I bit all the Sydney legends. No need to name them. Now it's all me.

Who have been your major influences?

Phibs, Dmote, Scramo, Prins, Kade, Jiesk, Unique, Jeno, Joker, Siker, Perso, Detch, Thunk, Gane, Ron Jeremy and TC5 and FC from NY.

Paint brand of choice

Anything that doesn't change colour half way through the outline.

Cap of choice

Grey hood

What music motivates you to paint?

Atmosphere, Bowie, Gorilllaz, Blackalicious, Dangermouse, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, NWA, Too Live Crew, DJ Rectangle, Jeff Buckley, Lord Finesse, MF Doom, People under the Stairs, Rhymesayers, The Pixies, Tom Petty, Buck 65 and on and on...

Memorable mission moment

Jumping out of a moving train back car to avoid arrest.

Any tips you're willing to share to the next generation of writers?

Learn your shit the hard way like we did. Shut down the computer and hit the streets. It'll mean more to you later if you're in it for the right reasons.

Anything else to add?

Skinny White Boys. Cooler than the other side of your pillow.

KOS, TGC, THS and Condolizzza Rice
